This past week, our clampers in Tuckerton got a claw-some visit from Amy and Toni Rose from @jacquescousteaunerr at the Life on the Edge Exhibit at the Tuckerton Seaport, and we are o-fish-ally obsessed with horseshoe crabs! These living fossils have been scuttling around our coastlines for over 400 million years, and our campers dove into all of it: their anatomy (ten eyes, and they’re not even true crabs!), their life cycle, why they matter so much to the health of our estuary, and how their remarkable blue blood helps keep modern medicine safe for every one of us. Talk about a résumé. Huge thanks to the JCNERR team for sharing their knowledge with our crew.
